The “Real” Arthur Godfrey Story: as Told by His Family

Join us for our final program in the 2024 lyceum series- which will be about Waterford’s own, and one of Loudoun’s most famous former residents…Arthur Godfrey!

A short video will set the stage with period film footage narrated by Godfrey himself followed by candid interviews and behind the scenes stories from his daughter Patti Godfrey Schmidt, and two granddaughters- Laura Dunlop and Mary Amons. The program will be moderated by longtime former Waterford resident, Tom Edmonds.

Background on the panelists:

• Patti Godfrey Schmidt, Godfrey’s daughter, was a nurse for over 30 years and lived between New York City and Beacon Hill while growing up.
• Mary Amons is an award-winning interior designer on high profile projects including Washington D.C. embassies and the Willard Hotel.
• Laura Dunlop is herself a veteran of stage, TV, and radio. She has narrated audio books for the Library of Congress and is a professional voice talent on national commercials and currently works for the USO.
