For more than 65 years, the Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit has been presented only through the untiring dedication of our amazing volunteers.

Can’t get enough of the Fair?
We always need volunteers!

The Fair maintains its success because of the hundreds of volunteers that help each year. Without these generous souls, the Fair could not continue.

If you would like to volunteer to be a docent at our house tours, to help at an information booth, help with sales or pre- and post-Fair inventory at our consignment venues, or to help with any of the other all manner of other behind behind-the-scenes activities, please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018.

If you would like to participate in the Fair, here is what you need to do:

Art and Photography Exhibits & Sale

Please or call the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018 ext. 114to be placed on the mailing list for our application forms.

The Red Barn Art Exhibit is a judged show, limited to two entries per artist, of works completed in the past two years. Media: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawings, mixed media/collage, sculpture. Prizes will be awarded.

The Art Mart is a sales outlet for quality art at reasonable prices. Any number of entries may be submitted, but there is a price ceiling of $450. Media: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, charcoals, block print, pen and ink, pencil drawings, collage.

The Photography exhibit takes place upstairs at the Old School on Fairfax Street. Hundreds of photographs are entered each year by some of the region's most talented photographers. This is a judged show and more than $1,000 in prizes are awarded.

Consignment Shop Crafts

The Waterford Foundation operates a consignment shop in the Old Mill for approximately 100 craftspeople. Basketry, woodwork, jewelry, textiles, pottery, Christmas decorations, and other decorative objects are some of the many items that are attractively displayed in this lovely and historic setting, and sold by Foundation volunteers. The craftsperson need not be present, although volunteer help is always welcome.

The participation fee is $15, due at drop-off in September. There is a consignment fee of 25% of sales.

Exhibiting Your Crafts:Exhibitors/Demonstrators

You may apply to exhibit your crafts at the Fair. A jurying committee selects exhibitors for quality and type of craft, ensuring that our featured artisans meet Fair guidelines. Because this is an educational Craft Exhibit, all exhibitors must demonstrate their craft during the Fair using hand tools of the period. Outside and inside booth space is available if you are accepted.

Country Store Consignment Sales & Dried Flower Consignment Sales

Sell your home-made baked goods, preserves, jams and jellies, and kitchen items in the Country Store consignment shop.

Sell your dried flowers, wreaths, or arrangements at the Schooley Mill Barn.
