Submitting to the Art Exhibits
Waterford Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit
October 1, 2 & 3, 2010
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There are two Art Exhibits at the Waterford Fair:
- The Red Barn Exhibit – A judged show limited
to two entries per artist; prizes are awarded.
- The Art Mart – Framed and/or matted artwork
for sale priced $450 or less.
Neither exhibit is juried,
but entry forms must be obtained from the Waterford Foundation
and completed in advance. Red Barn Exhibit entries must
be registered, and the entry fee received, no later than September
1. Send us

Individuals who entered either
exhibit in the past three years, or who have already requested
an application, will automatically receive the Red Barn/Art Mart
prospectus in July. Additional requests may be submitted before
September 1 to the Waterford Foundation at 540-882-3018 or

Entry
Fees and Commission: The entry fee is $15 for the Red
Barn Exhibit and $15 for the Art Mart. A commission of 25% is charged
on all work sold.
Delivery and Removal: Artwork
for either exhibit must be delivered to the Red Barn in Waterford
on Friday, September 24, or Saturday, September 25, between 10
a.m. and noon. Unsold artwork must be picked up on Sunday, October
3, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. or on Monday, October 4, from 10 a.m.
to noon or from 5 p.m. to 7: p.m.
The Red Barn Art Exhibit
Media and Categories: Acceptable
media are oils, acrylics, watercolors, drawings, mixed media and
collage, and sculpture. Entries will be judged in each media category
for: Best in Show, Best Waterford Scene, and Best Loudoun County
Artist.
Conditions: Exhibitors may
submit one or two original works of art, completed within the past
two years, which are no larger than the equivalent of 36” by 36” and
are framed and ready to hang with screw eyes and wires (no sawtooth
hangers). No photomechanical reproductions or computer-generated
work will be accepted. All work must be for sale and clearly priced.
Work entered in the Red Barn Exhibit may not be duplicated in the
Art Mart.
How to Enter: Official labels
for each Red Barn Exhibit entry and instructions for completing
them are included in the prospectus application packet and must
be returned, with the $15 entry fee, postmarked no later than September
1.
The Art Mart
Media: Oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels,
charcoals, block prints, collages, pen and ink, and pencil drawings
may be submitted. Notecards are not accepted.
Conditions: All work must be
for sale, priced no more than $450, matted or framed (no sawtooth
hangers), and no larger than the equivalent of 36” by 36.” Neat boxes no larger than
15” by 20” must be provided for large numbers of matted
works; larger matted works will be placed in bins.
How to Enter: The official
entry/inventory form and instructions for completing it and labeling
artworks are included in the prospectus application packet. The
entry form and labels must be completed before delivering artworks. Artists exhibiting for the first time will be assigned an Art
Mart Exhibitor number when their artworks are delivered.
